BIRDS MENTIONED…

TUNDRA BEAN-GOOSE | Black Swift | Semipalmated Sandpiper | Cook’s Petrel | Lucy’s Warbler | Indigo Bunting


This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for August 11, 2023. 

The TUNDRA BEAN-GOOSE continued at the Earvin Magic Johnson Recreation Area in Willowbrook through August 10. 

At least two BLACK SWIFTS continued to be reported near Claremont Wilderness Park along Cobal Canyon Road (by the bench) through August 6.  Late afternoon is the best time to look for them here. 

A SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER was along the lower Los Angeles River just above Willow Street from August 8-11.

Eight COOK’S PETRELS were found in Los Angeles County waters (well offshore) on August 6. 

A LUCY’S WARBLER was along the lower Los Angeles River below Willow Street on August 4. 

In addition, a male INDIGO BUNTING continued along the lower Los Angeles River in Long Beach (on the east side below the Willow Street crossing) through August 6.
