This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for May 13.

A SOLITARY SANDPIPER was at the Piute Ponds on Edwards AFB (letter of permission required) on May 9.

 

A COMMON LOON was on Silver Lake Reservoir in Silver Lake on May 11.

 

NEOTROPIC CORMORANTS were at Wilderness Park in Downey from May 6-8, at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve in Van Nuys through May 9, at Santa Fe Dam in Irwindale through May 11, at the San Gabriel River / San Jose Creek confluence in South El Monte again on May 9 and at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas through May 12.

 

Two ZONE-TAILED HAWKS were seen again above Monrovia on May 11.

 

A PURPLE MARTIN was at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas on May 7.

 

A SUMMER TANAGER was at Sycamore Flat Campground near Valyermo on May 6.

 

Another SUMMER TANAGER was along the Playa Vista Riparian Corridor in Playa Vista on May 10 adjacent to the Bluff Creek Dog Park.

 

An INDIGO BUNTING was in Rolling Hills Estates just south of the South Coast Botanic Garden on May 12.
