COMMON GROUND DOVES were at the San Gabriel Coastal Basin Spreading Grounds in Pico Rivera (east side of the large middle basin) and at the Piute Ponds on Edwards AFB on October 25.
A WHITE-WINGED DOVE was at the Ballona Freshwater Marsh on October 24.
The PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER continued along lower Ballona Creek through October 20. Check the area above the Pacific Ave. bridge and the salt pan. It is usually mixed in with the flock of Black-bellied Plovers.
A RED PHALAROPE was at the Piute Ponds on October 25.
Up to three LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS were along the Los Angeles River between the Atlantic and Slauson crossings in Maywood through October 24.
Another LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was at the San Gabriel Coastal Basin Spreading Grounds in Pico Rivera from October 25-26.
An AMERICAN BITTERN was at the Piute Ponds on Edwards AFB on October 20.
The adult LITTLE BLUE HERON continued at Colorado Lagoon in Long Beach through October 20.
BROAD-WINGED HAWKS were seen in Torrance and at Ken Malloy Harbor Regional Park in Harbor City on October 20.
A ZONE-TAILED HAWK was in Azusa on October 20.
TROPICAL KINGBIRDS were at the San Gabriel Coastal Basin Spreading Grounds in Pico Rivera through October 25 (east of the end of Mines Ave.), along the lower Los Angeles River through October 22 (south of the Willow Street crossing), at Colorado Lagoon in Long Beach through October 25 and at Hansen Dam in Lake View Terrace (by the dam outflow) on October 26.
A PACIFIC WREN was in Little Santa Anita Canyon (by first water along the trail) on October 25.
A RED-THROATED PIPIT was along the Los Angeles River between the Atlantic and Slauson crossings in Maywood on October 23.
A LAPLAND LONGSPUR and a MOUNTIAN PLOVER were at the A&G Sod Farm in the Antelope Valley on October 20. The location is at Ave. N and 50th Street East.
A CHESTNUT-COLLARED LONGSPUR continued at Griffith Park’s Toyon Landfill through October 20. This area is open to the public weekends only.
A GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was in the Verdugo Hills in Glendale on October 23.
A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was on Santa Catalina Island (Two Harbors area) on October 19.
A DARK-EYED “PINK-SIDED” JUNCO was by the compost area in Griffith Park on October 19. Another was in the Sailboat Cove area at Bonelli Regional Park on October 21.
WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS were at the Piute Ponds on October 21 and at the Griffith Park golf course on October 25.
A GREEN-TAILED TOWHEE continued at the West San Gabriel River Parkway Nature Trail in Lakewood through October 22.
BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLERS were at Banning Park in Wilmington through October 22, along the West San Gabriel River Parkway Nature Trail in Lakewood through October 20 and at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas (by the old north shore pier) on October 26.
A TENNESSEE WARBLER was at the Piute Ponds on Edwards AFB on October 22.
A LUCY’S WARBLER was at Peck Road Water Conservation Park in Arcadia from October 22-24 along the east side of the north lake.
The returning CAPE MAY WARBLER at Loyola Marymount University was seen through October 26. It has favors this spot 33.9685, -118.4175.
A MAGNOLIA WARBLER was at Mills Memorial Park in Carson from October 23-26.
A BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER was on San Clemente Island on October 21.
A continuing PALM WARBLER was along the Los Angeles River in the Sepulveda Basin through October 22 below Burbank Blvd.
A SUMMER TANAGER continued in Griffith Park in the Old Zoo area through October 24.
A PAINTED BUNTING was in the Avalon area on Santa Catalina Island on October 25.
