This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for June 7, 2024.

A lingering LONG-TAILED DUCK was at Colorado Lagoon in Long Beach through June 4.  Google Earth 33.7694, -118.1310

Up to four INCA DOVES were in Lake Los Angeles in the east Antelope Valley through June 5.  They have been reported along East Avenue O, west of 170th Street East, most recently at Sweetaire and 168th East.

A SABINE’S GULL and a RED-BILLED TROPICBIRD were in the Santa Catalina Channel south of San Pedro on June 5.

A BROAD-WINGED HAWK continued on San Clemente Island (no public access) through June 3.

The continuing YELLOW-HEADED CARACARA in Lomita (provenance unknown) was reported through June 7.  It has been near the Halal Market, Popeyes Chicken and Target parking lot at Narbonne Ave. and PCH.

Two BLACK-THROATED SPARROWS at Alta Vicente Reserve in Rancho Palos Verdes on May 31 were at an unexpected location.

A BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was on San Clemente Island on May 31 and another was in Signal Hill at the North Side Trails on June 1.

A PROTHONOTARY WARBLER was on San Clemente Island on June 1 and a GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER was there on June 3 along with a SUMMER TANAGER and INDIGO BUNTING.  A SCARLET TANAGER was there on June 4 and two PURPLE MARTINS were present on June 5.

An AMERICAN REDSTART continued at the Piute Ponds on Edwards AFB through June 4.

A SUMMER TANAGER was at Stephen Sorensen Park in Lake Los Angeles on June 5.

A ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was on Santa Catalina Island on May 31 and one was at the Ballona Wetlands on June 1.

An INDIGO BUNTING was near the southeast corner of the lake at Ken Malloy Harbor Regional Park in Harbor City on June 5.
