This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for May 31, 2024.

At least three INCA DOVES were in Lake Los Angeles in the east Antelope Valley through May 29.  They were reported along East Avenue O, west of 170th Street East.

A RED KNOT was at Del Rey Lagoon in Playa Del Rey on May 27.

A WESTERN CATTLE EGRET was at the San Gabriel Coastal Basin Spreading Grounds in Pico Rivera through May 27.

A BROAD-WINGED HAWK was on San Clemente Island (no public access) through May 30.

Another BROAD-WINGED HAWK was at the Rolling Hills Landfill Loop in Rolling Hills Estates on May 29.

The continuing YELLOW-HEADED CARACARA in Lomita (provenance unknown) was reported through May 29.  It has been seen near the Halal Market, Popeyes Chicken and Target parking lot at Narbonne Ave. and PCH.

An AMERICAN REDSTART was at the Piute Ponds on Edwards AFB on May 30 and a TENNESSEE WARBLER was there from May 27-30.  Unusual was a BLACK SKIMMER present there on May 29.

Another TENNESSEE WARBLER was at Banning Park in Wilmington on May 28 by the northeast corner of the Banning House.

A SUMMER TANAGER was at Apollo Park in Lancaster on May 26.
