This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for August 26.
Two WHITE-WNGED DOVES were seen briefly as they flew over Malibu Bluffs Park in Malibu on August 26.
A SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER continued at Malibu Lagoon through August 21 and two RED KNOTS were there on August 23.
At least two NEOTROPIC CORMORANTS continued on the lake at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve in Van Nuys through August 25 and three were at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas through August 23.
YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS were on the middle breakwater at the Los Angeles Harbor on August 20, at Malibu Lagoon (up to two birds) through August 26 and at Ballona Lagoon on August 21.
An early WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW was at Willow Springs Park in Long Beach on August 23.
A NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH was at Peck Road Water Conservation Park in Arcadia on August 26. It was in the willows at the northeast corner of the north lake.
A VIRGINIA’S WARBLER was at Stephen Sorensen Park in Lake Los Angeles from August 20-25 north of the north fence line.
A ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was at Rancho Sierra Golf Course in the east Antelope Valley on August 21. Be sure to ask permission to bird at the clubhouse.
