This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for October 6, 2023.
The TUNDRA BEAN-GOOSE continued on the north side of the Earvin Magic Johnson Recreation Area in Willowbrook through October 4.
A LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was at the San Gabriel Coastal Basin Spreading Grounds in Pico Rivera on October 1.
One to two CATTLE EGRETS were at Santa Fe Dam in Irwindale from September 30-October 4, in the wet area west of parking lot 6. A BOBOLINK was in this area from September 29-October 2 and a PALM WARBLER was seen on October 3.
Two ZONE-TAILED HAWKS were in Monrovia on October 1.
A probable BROWN-CRESTED FLYCATCHER was at Willow Springs Park in Long Beach (north of the main parking lot) on October 5.
A TROPICAL KINGBIRD continued along the lower Los Angeles River in Long Beach through October 3 by the Willow Street crossing.
Another TROPICAL KINGBIRD was at El Dorado Park in Long Beach on October 2, in Area 3 east of the main lake.
A YELLOW-TROATED VIREO was at Satellite Park in Cerritos on September 30.
Two SAGE THRASHERS were at Pt. Vicente on October 5.
A LARK BUNTING was on San Clemente Island (no public access) on October 2.
A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was on the east side of Hahamongna Watershed Park in Pasadena on October 1. A VIRGINIA’S WARBLER and a BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER were here on October 1.
An ORCHARD ORIOLE was at Two Harbors on Santa Catalina Island on October 1.
A NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH was on the north side of the lake at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas on October 4.
A PROTHONOTARY WARBLER and a BLACKPOLL WARBLER were at the Silver Lake Recreation Center on October 6. Google Earth 34.0923, -118.2655
A TENNESSEE WARBLER continued at a residence in Pasadena through September 29.
Another TENNESSEE WARBLER was at the north end of the West San Gabriel Rive Parkway Nature Trail in Lakewood on September 29. One was at the south end of Ken Malloy Harbor Regional Park in Harbor City on October 1 and another was at the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library in Los Angeles on October 5.
One to two BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLERS, a LUCY’S WARBLER and a BLACKPOLL WARBLER were at Creek Park in La Mirada through October 1.
A NORTHERN PARULA was at a residence in Rancho Palos Verdes on October 1.
A CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER continued in Elysian Park through October 2. A SUMMER TANAGER was here on October 2. Google Earth 34.0814, -118.2474
A CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER and a NORTHERN PARULA were at Bond Park (Los Feliz and the LA River) in Atwater Village on October 5, with the former continuing the next day.
