Rare Bird Alert - June 4, 2021

This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for June 4.

Up to two BRANT continued at the Piute Ponds on Edwards AFB (letter of permission required) through June 3.

Fifteen COMMON MERGANSERS were on the San Gabriel River just below the East Fork Road on June 3.

Up to two INCA DOVES continued at Lake Los Angeles through June 3. The most reliable location is along 168th Street East between East Ave. N4 and Mossdale Ave.

Four BLACK SWIFTS were recorded at Bear Divide near Santa Clarita on May 28 and four were above Claremont Wilderness Park on May 27.

A CHIMNEY SWIFT was also at Bear Divide on May 27.

An AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHER continued along the lower Los Angeles River at the Golden Shore Marine Reserve through May 30.

A GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL was at MacArthur Park in Los Angeles on May 29.

Single NEOTROPIC CORMORANTS continued at Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas through June 2, at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve on May 29, at Peck Road Water Conservation Park in Arcadia through May 27 and along the Los Angeles River between Willow Street and the Pacific Coast Highway through June 1.

An AMERICAN BITTERN continued at the Piute Ponds on Edwards AFB (letter of permission required) through June 2.

Up to three YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS were at Sims Bio Pond in Long Beach through June 1.

A BALTIMORE ORIOLE was at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas on June 2. It was between the swim beach and picnic area on the north shore of the reservoir.

A SUMMER TANAGER continued at Pearblossom Park in the south Antelope Valley through June 3.

Another SUMMER TANAGER was along Hungry Valley Road near Castaic just west of the 5 Freeway on May 31.

A ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was seen at Bear Divide on May 28.
