This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for March 12.

A "EURASIAN" GREEN-WINGED TEAL continued at the San Gabriel Coastal Basin Spreading Grounds in Pico Rivera through March 5.

One or two SPOTTED DOVES continued south of downtown Los Angeles through March 10.  They have been near East 90th Street and Compton Ave.  Check around the Baca Arts Academy and Mt. Rose Baptist Church.

Up to four COMMON GROUND DOVES were in Cerritos just south of the Volutone parking lot (west of the 605 Freeway and south of Alondra Blvd.) through March 10.

A WHITE-WINGED DOVE was in Rancho Palos Verdes on March 5.

An AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHER was at Malibu Lagoon from March 5-7.

The PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER along Ballona Creek was seen through March 7 between the Lincoln Blvd. crossing and the 90 Freeway.

NEOTROPIC CORMORANTS included up to eleven birds continuing at Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas through March 11, one on the Los Angeles River by the island south of Willow Street in Long Beach through March 7, one at Peck Road Water Conservation Park in Arcadia through March 9, one at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve through March 9 and one at Legg Lake in South El Monte on March 11 (on the north shore of the north lake).

The AMERICAN BITTERN continued on the south ponds at the Piute Ponds on Edwards AFB through March 9.

Up to four YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS were at Sims Bio Pond in Long Beach through March 11.

The immature LITTLE BLUE HERON at the Cabrillo / Salinas de San Pedro Salt Marsh in San Pedro was present through March 6.

A CALIFORNIA CONDOR was seen over Lebec on March 5.

A ZONE-TAILED HAWK was above Glendora Mountain Road above Glendora on March 5 and another was seen along the San Gabriel River by Encanto Park in Duarte on March 8.

The ZONE-TAILED HAWK in Monrovia continued through March 6 in and around Grand Avenue Park.

The ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK near Gorman continued through March 5. It is being seen from Ralph's Ranch Road where it parallels the 5 Freeway south of Gorman.

The DUSKY-CAPPED FLYCATCHER at Heartwell Park in Long Beach continued through March 7. It has been in the area northwest of the corner of Parkcrest St. and Woodruff Ave.

The GREATER PEWEE at Lacy Park in San Marino was seen through March 11.  It has generally been on the north side of the park.

The TROPICAL KINGBIRD at Entradero Park in Torrance continued through March 10 near the pond.

A HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHER was at Lake Balboa (opposite the swan boat rentals) on March 5.

A DUSKY FLYCATCHER (through March 11) and an ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER (through March 6) continued at Willow Springs Park in Long Beach.

The EASTERN PHOEBE at the Bette Davis Picnic Area in Glendale was reported through March 11. It is being seen on the north side of the Los Angeles River, usually just east of the Riverside Drive crossing. It may be seen in the park area proper or between there and the river channel.

A WHITE WAGTAIL in Vernon continued through March 8. It has been both upstream and downstream from the Downey Road crossing. Park on Charter Street just south of the river and walk north.

The GRASSHOPPER SPARROW at the San Gabriel Coastal Basin Spreading Grounds in Pico Rivera continued through March 5. It has been at the large north basin along the east side berm (north of and across from the Mines Ave. entrance).

Up to two CLAY-COLORED SPARROWS continued at Vina Vieja Park in Pasadena through March 8.

A DARK-EYED "GRAY-HEADED" JUNCO continued at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas by the north shore play structure and a DARK-EYED "PINK-SIDED" JUNCO continued at Sailboat Cove on the west side of the lake. Both were reported through March 11.

A DARK-EYED "GRAY-HEADED" JUNCO and a DARK-EYED "PINK-SIDED" JUNCO continued in Juniper Hills through March 10.

A DARK-EYED "PINK-SIDED" JUNCO continued at College Park in Claremont through March 10.

Another DARK-EYED "GRAY-HEADED" JUNCO continued in Juniper Hills through March 6.

WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS continued in Valley Village through March 7, at Horsethief Canyon Park in San Dimas through March 11 (by the dog park) and at Harbor Regional Park in Harbor City through March 9 (by the northwest end of the lake). Another WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was at Glorietta Park in Glendale on March 10.

The West San Gabriel River Parkway Nature Trail in Lakewood continued to host a GREEN-TAILED TOWHEE through March 7.

The SCOTT'S ORIOLE near the Crystalaire Country Club in in the south Antelope Valley continued through March 10.

A BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was at Descanso Gardens in La Canada on March 8.  It was near the southwest corner of the property south of the "Oak Grove" section.

A NASHVILLE WARBLER continued at the Huntington Gardens in San Marino through March 11.  The bird was west of the glass dome by the main entrance.

The AMERICAN REDSTART at Polliwog Park in Manhattan Beach continued through March 6 by the entrance to the botanic garden.

The male SUMMER TANAGER at Wardlow Park in Long Beach continued through March 10 on the south side of the park.

The wintering BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK near Johnson Lake in Pasadena continued through March 10.
