This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for August 21.
A WHITE-WINGED DOVE was along the lower Los Angeles River in Long Beach on August 16 at the Willow Street crossing.
An AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHER was at Dockweiler State Beach in El Segundo on August 13.
Two SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS were above the Willow Street crossing along the lower Los Angeles River from August 15-16.
Two GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULLS continued along the Los Angeles River above the Slauson crossing in Maywood through August 19.
One to two NEOTROPIC CORMORANTS continued along the lower Los Angeles River in Long Beach. They have been below the Willow Street crossing and were reported through August 20.
Two more NEOTROPIC CORMORANTS continued on the wildlife lake island at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve through August 21.
Another NEOTROPIC CORMORANT flew over Hansen Dam on August 16.
A YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON continued at the Ballona Freshwater Marsh in Playa del Rey through August 17.
Another YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON continued at Sims Bio Pond in Long Beach through August 20.
A BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER continued along the Los Angeles River in Atwater through August 17. The bird has been in the small park area on the east side of the river just below Los Feliz Blvd.
The male INDIGO BUNTING at Hahamongna Watershed Park in Pasadena continued through August 16. It has been in the southwest corner of the basin west of the dam and spillway and around the west side drainage channel.
