Rare Bird Alert - April 15, 2022

This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for April 15.

 

The SOLITARY SANDPIPER in the Sepulveda Basin continued through April 14 along the Los Angeles River below Burbank Blvd.

 

A RED PHALAROPE was on the north pond at Madrona Marsh in Torrance from April 13-14.

 

A MASKED BOOBY was by the Fishing Pier at Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro on April 9.

 

Two NEOTROPIC CORMORANTS were at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas through April 14.  They have been seen near the north shore and at Sailboat Cove.  Also present at Bonelli was a CATTLE EGRET on April 12, north of the swim beach.

 

Two more NEOTROPIC CORMORANTS were at Santa Fe Dam in Irwindale through April 10 and one continued on the wildlife lake island at the Sepulveda Basin in Van Nuys also through April 10.

 

At least one YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was continued at Alamitos Bay through April 14 near the south end of Appian Way on Naples Island.

 

Two CALIFORNIA CONDORS were seen southwest of Quail Lake near Gorman on April 10.

 

A ZONE-TAILED HAWK was at Bear Divide near Santa Clarita on April 10.

 

The DUSKY-CAPPED FLYCATCHER continued at the Sepulveda Basin through April 7.  It has been east of Lake Balboa along the riparian strip adjacent to the boat rental area.  It ranges along the tree line here, between the club house and the LA River.

 

The TROPICAL KINGBIRD at Colorado Lagoon in Long Beach continued through April 14.  It was reported both near the fire station and on the golf course.

 

WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS were on Santa Catalina Island on April 8, in Claremont through April 13, at Willow Springs Park in Long Beach through April 13 and at CSU Long Beach on April 13.

 

BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLERS continued at the West San Gabriel River Parkway Nature Trail in Lakewood (south of Monte Verde Park) through April 14, at Polliwog Park in Manhattan Beach (usually by the pond) through April 14 and at De Forest Park in Long Beach (north of the park buildings) on April 14.

 

A PALM WARBLER was at Maywood Riverfront Park along the Los Angeles River on April 11 near the river access gate.
