This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for April 14, 2023.

The TUNDRA BEAN-GOOSE at the Lancaster Water Reclamation Plant in the Antelope Valley continued through April 12. 

The SANDHILL CRANE along the San Gabriel River in Pico Rivera continued through April 8 near Washington Blvd.

Two FRANKLIN’S GULLS were at the Piute Ponds on Edwards AFB on April 7.  A letter of permission is required for entry.

YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS included three at Alamitos Bay on April 12 and another three in Marina del Rey (at the South Coast Corinthian Yacht Club) also on April 12.

A CALIFORNIA CONDOR was along Gorman Post Road on April 8.  A PURPLE MARTIN was here on April 8.

A ZONE-TAILED HAWK continued in north Monrovia (often in the vicinity of Grand Ave. Park) through April 9. 

The YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER at Tournament Park in Pasadena continued through April 13.

A LADDER-BACKED x HAIRY WOODPECKER continued at Holiday Lake in the west Antelope Valley through April 9.

A DUSKY-CAPPED FLYCATCHER was reported at Runnymeade Recreation Center in Winnetka on April 13 in sycamores in the middle of the park.

A TROPICAL KINGBIRD was at Colorado Lagoon in Long Beach on April 13.

The PACIFIC WREN at La Mirada Community Park was present through April 10.

A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was along the West San Gabriel River Parkway Nature Trail in Lakewood on April 9 near the Los Coyotes entrance.

A HARRIS’S SPARROW continued in Beverly Hills through April 8.  Another was in West Los Angeles on April 11.

At least three SWAMP SPARROWS continued at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas through April 13 around the small north shore pond (this spot is near the extreme northeast corner of the reservoir). 

An ORCHARD ORIOLE was at Bear Divide near Santa Clarita on April 12.

A BALTIMORE ORIOLE continued at Satellite Park in Cerritos through April 11 near 16415 Westbrook Lane.

A BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER continued at Hopkins Wilderness Park in Redondo Beach through April 10 by the north end of the park.

A TENNESSEE WARBLER was in the Old Zoo area of Griffith Park on April 7.

Another TENNESSEE WARBLER continued through April 7 along Hackett Ave. just south of Birdcage Park in Long Beach. 

A SUMMER TANAGER was at Fern Dell in Griffith Park from April 8-13 near the north entrance and another continued at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas through April 11 near the northeast shore.
